Our History

"Riley’s at the Potting Shed, Pot House Hamlet, in Silkstone, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire, was launched by owners James Riley and his wife Nikki in 2013."

The couple decided to upsize here after Christmas 2012 from their successful dining pub, the Rose and Crown at Hoylandswaine.

James and Nikki had run the Rose & Crown for 9 years and felt they had achieved all they could and fancied a new challenge.

Now they’re at the Potting Shed, the cafe for Pot House Hamlet, a former glassworks and mill turned into posh shops and a plant nursery, serving up a delicious range of starters, main courses and desserts.

  • We have visited the Potting Shed for breakfast, lunch and evening meal on different occassions. We have experienced great food and excellent service on every occasion. We recently took friends to the wine tasting dinner which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We love the decor and the outside courtyard where we enjoyed lunch on a sunny day. We have recommended the Bistro to several of our family and friends who have also had great food and service. DL. Huddersfield
